This image displays a toy minifigure representing SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich, one of the most powerful and feared leaders within the Nazi regime.
The figure is depicted in the iconic black M32 service uniform of the SS (Schutzstaffel). This formal uniform was a powerful symbol of the SS organization, worn for parade and service duties. He wears a black SS officer’s peaked visor cap (Schirmmütze) with silver officer piping and the SS-specific insignia: the SS eagle and the Totenkopf (death’s head).
His tunic is highly decorated, reflecting his high rank and status. It features the ornate shoulder boards and collar tabs of a senior SS-General, the Nazi Party armband on his left arm, and a prominent ribbon bar and other awards on his left breast pocket, including what represents the German Cross.
Historical Background: Reinhard Heydrich (1904-1942) was a high-ranking SS and police official and a principal architect of the Holocaust. He was the founding head of the Sicherheitsdienst (SD), the SS intelligence service, and later became the chief of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), which controlled the Gestapo, Kripo, and SD. Heydrich chaired the infamous Wannsee Conference in January 1942, which formalized the plans for the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question.” He was assassinated in Prague in May 1942 by Czechoslovak soldiers while serving as the brutal Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia.
