Introduction
This image displays a set of three toy minifigures from a series representing the Chinese Northeast Army (东北军, Dōngběi Jūn). This was a powerful military force during the Warlord Era of the Republic of China (c. 1920s-1930s), which governed Manchuria under the command of Zhang Xueliang.
All three figures wear the distinctive blue-grey uniform of the Northeast Army and feature the same shield-shaped arm patch, but each represents a different role and is uniquely detailed.
The items in the picture are the three minifigures, shown from left to right:
- The first figure is an infantryman, possibly a grenadier or assault soldier. He wears a unique style of field cap and has extensively detailed printed webbing that includes holders for stick grenades.
- The central figure is an officer. His rank is clearly indicated by the ornate printed gold epaulettes on his shoulders and an officer-style belt. His head print, with a prominent mustache and a scar, gives him the character of a veteran commander.
- The third figure is another infantryman, distinguished by his Brodie-style helmet. This figure also includes a whimsical and non-historical detail: a printed sandwich or hamburger tucked into his belt pouch.
