Introduction
This image displays a pair of toy minifigures representing infantrymen from the Chinese Beiyang Army (北洋军, Běiyáng Jūn). This was the primary military force in China during the early Republican period and the subsequent Warlord Era (c. 1912-1928).
Both figures are generic representations of soldiers from this turbulent period of Chinese history, shown in the heat of battle. They share the same distinctive light blue-grey uniform with high collars, but have unique details that set them apart from each other.
The items in the picture are the two detailed minifigures:
- The soldier on the left is equipped with a large bandolier of ammunition pouches across his chest. His yellow pentagonal collar tabs are marked with the number “1313.” His face is printed with an intense, “battle-crazed” expression with red eyes.
- The soldier on the right is equipped with a different style of webbing, featuring a brown leather belt and cross-straps. His red pentagonal collar tabs are marked with the number “131.” His face is printed with a shouting expression and a cut on his cheek.
