This is a custom clothing accessory for a toy minifigure, representing a German Waffen-SS M38 Camouflage Smock (Tarnjacke) from the World War II era.
This sleeveless, pullover-style garment is defined by its historically significant camouflage pattern, known as Platanenmuster (Plane Tree Pattern). This was one of the earliest and most complex camouflage patterns developed and was used exclusively by the Waffen-SS, the combat branch of the Nazi Party’s SS organization. The pattern features large, overlapping, non-geometric spots of dark green and brown on a light, sandy-colored background, designed to mimic the dappled light filtering through the leaves of a plane tree. These smocks were typically reversible, with a vibrant spring/summer pattern on one side and a more subdued autumn/winter pattern on the other. Worn over the standard field-grey wool uniform, these advanced camouflage smocks gave Waffen-SS troops a distinct appearance and a tactical advantage in concealment on the battlefield.
