This is a custom clothing accessory for a toy minifigure, representing the British Army Pattern 1902 Service Dress Tunic with Pattern 1908 Web Equipment from the World War I era.
This single accessory represents the quintessential upper uniform and full load-bearing equipment of a British infantryman, known informally as a “Tommy.” The base garment is the khaki-colored P’02 Service Dress tunic. Printed over this is the iconic Pattern 1908 Web Infantry Equipment. This advanced webbing system, made from woven canvas, was one of the most effective of its time. The front of the accessory shows the belt with its ten large ammunition pouches, designed to hold 150 rounds of .303 ammunition for the Lee-Enfield rifle. The back displays the distinctive haversack (or “small pack”) worn high on the shoulders, supported by broad cross-straps. This complete uniform and equipment set is synonymous with the image of the British soldier who fought in the trenches of the Western Front during WWI.
