This is a custom-made headwear accessory for a toy minifigure, designed to represent the unique black beret of Field Marshal Bernard “Monty” Montgomery from World War II.

The accessory is a black beret, which was the signature headwear of the British Royal Armoured Corps (RAC). What makes this piece unique and specific to Montgomery are the two cap badges printed on the front. Although an infantry officer, Montgomery adopted the tanker’s beret. He famously and unconventionally wore his own Field Marshal’s cap badge (represented by the gold-colored insignia) alongside the Royal Tank Regiment’s cap badge (represented by the silver-colored insignia).

This non-regulation combination was his personal trademark and became one of the most iconic and recognizable symbols of any Allied commander during the war, signifying his close bond with his armored troops.
