This image displays a toy minifigure and an accessory, representing Michael Wittmann, who is historically recognized as one of the most famous and effective German Panzer (tank) commanders of World War II.

The figure is depicted in the distinctive black Panzer uniform (Panzerjacke) worn by Waffen-SS tank crews. This wraparound tunic was specifically designed to be short and tight-fitting to prevent snagging inside the cramped interior of a tank.

His specific identity and high status are clearly identified by his insignia and decorations:

  • Headgear: He wears a black M43 field cap (Einheitsfeldmütze). Prominently displayed on the front is the Totenkopf (death’s head) insignia, with the SS eagle insignia located on the left side of the cap.
  • Collar Tabs: The right collar tab displays the SS sig runes, identifying his branch of service.
  • Decorations: The figure is shown wearing the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross around his neck, a high honor for battlefield bravery. On his left breast pocket, there are prints representing the Panzer Assault Badge (awarded for participation in armored assaults) and a Wound Badge. A ribbon for the Iron Cross 2nd Class is also visible in the buttonhole of his tunic.

The set also includes a handheld accessory: a black briefcase printed with a white Iron Cross.

Historical Background: Michael Wittmann (1914–1944) was a legendary SS-Hauptsturmführer (Captain) often referred to as the “Black Baron.” He served primarily with the 1st SS Panzer Division “Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler” (LSSAH) and the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Battalion. He is most famous for his skill as a commander of the Tiger I tank. His most renowned military feat occurred during the Battle of Villers-Bocage in Normandy (June 1944), where he single-handedly ambushed a British convoy, destroying over a dozen tanks and numerous other vehicles in a short period. He was credited with the destruction of approximately 138 enemy tanks and 132 anti-tank guns before he was killed in action in August 1944.
