This is a custom-made accessory for a toy minifigure, designed to represent a classic German “Jerrycan” fuel can from the North African Campaign of World War II.

The accessory accurately replicates the iconic design of the original German fuel can, officially known as the Wehrmacht-Einheitskanister. Its most notable feature is its light tan or sand color. This was a common camouflage color for vehicles and equipment used by the German Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) to blend in with the desert environment.

The can features the famous three-handle design, recessed reinforcing ribs, and is printed with the German words “Kraftstoff 20L,” which translates to “Fuel 20 Liters.” The white cross marking, while typically used to designate cans for water, is also present.

Historical Background: The German “Jerrycan” was a revolutionary design, far superior to the fuel cans used by the Allies at the start of the war. Its durability and practical features were essential in the harsh desert environment, where fuel and water were the most critical supplies. Countless sand-colored jerrycans like this were used to sustain the German war machine during the back-and-forth battles of the North African Campaign from 1941 to 1943 under Field Marshal Rommel. The design was so successful it was famously copied by the Allies.
