The defining feature of this pullover smock is its camouflage pattern, known as Eichenlaubmuster (Oak Leaf Pattern). This was a sophisticated and highly effective pattern used exclusively by the Waffen-SS, the combat branch of the Nazi Party’s SS organization. The pattern consists of large, rounded spots shaped like oak leaves in dark brown and green on a light-colored background. The specific coloration shown on the accessory is the autumnal version of the pattern, which was designed to provide concealment in fall and winter environments. Original smocks were famously reversible, with this autumn scheme on one side and a greener, spring/summer version on the other.
